General Guidelines Regarding Agency Agreements
The School of Nursing will not accept faxed, scanned, photocopied, or photographed submissions of finalized affiliation agreements. Only original documents will be accepted.
Students are strongly encouraged to have clinical agencies sign the standard Ball State University affiliation agreement. If that is not possible, students are advised that the review, revision, negotiation, and signing of a non-Ball State affiliation agreement can significantly lengthen the time required to approve a clinical placement. As such, students are encouraged to start making tentative arrangements for clinicals approximately one semester in advance. To further counter the possibility that negotiations between Ball State and a clinical agency may not produce a usable affiliation agreement, students are additionally encouraged to cultivate, well in advance, a possible back-up clinical agency for every semester.
Notes About Clinical Agencies By State
Ball State University will not extend its current contract with Sharp Healthcare. None of their facilities may be used as a clinical site.
Colorado students are advised that there may be potential agency contract issues when obtaining a Colorado agency agreement related to state workers’ compensation regulations. The length of time for students to obtain an approved agency agreement may take longer than the normal process and may require additional pre-clinical steps. It is also very possible that Ball State University will not enter into a contract with the Colorado agency of your choice.
Ball State University will not extend its current contract with BayCare Health System. None of their facilities may be used as a clinical site.
Ball State will not contract with Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. Facilities within these networks may not be used as a clinical sites, including:
- Northwestern Memorial Hospital
- Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital
- Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital
- Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital
- Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital
- Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital
- Northwestern Medicine Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital
- Northwestern Medical Group
- Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group
- Kishwaukee Physician Group Marianjoy Medical Group
Ball State will not contract with Spectrum Health or Henry Ford Health System. Facilities within these networks may not be used as a clinical sites.
Ball State University will not contract with Allina Health System. None of their facilities may be used as a clinical site.
Ball State University School of Nursing students may NOT use an Atrium Health / Carolinas HealthCare System facility or contracted entity as a clinical site.
