An academic internship offers the opportunity to gain insight into the profession through hands-on experience and mentorship with the industry's leading minds and firms.

A Required Experience

All bachelor of landscape architecture students are required to complete a 10-week internship with a professional firm or public agency during your fourth year.

For graduate students in the first professional master’s degree program (those students with a bachelor’s in another major), the internship is at least 10 weeks of fulltime employment and is usually completed during the summer between your second and third year.

You're in Control

Proper research and planning will ensure your internships experience is tailored to your unique interests and experience.

You are responsible for arranging your own internships with approval from the department.

You must also:

  • Enroll in an internship course the spring or summer of your internship.
  • Submit biweekly reports to the department's internship coordinator.
  • Submit a summary paper detailing your experience.
  • Create a display of internship experiences and accomplishments.
