The School of Art offers a four-year, professional degree program leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts/Animation with a concentration in Animation Production.
Animation Production offers comprehensive digital training that includes character design, storyboarding, modeling, texturing, and dynamic lighting. Students use industry-leading software, including Toon Boom, Toon Boom Harmony, Maya, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, to refine their skills and shape their creative vision. They learn to draw, develop stories, manage complex tasks, work collaboratively, meet deadlines, participate in critique, respond to feedback, and adapt to change.
Students begin in our First-Year Foundations Program which nurtures their interests and skills through classes in drawing, 2D, 3D, and 4D. In their second year, students are introduced to industry standard animation software and the principles of basic animation and design.
Juniors and seniors participate in a three-semester production workflow that mirrors the environment of a professional animation studio. They collaborate with peers and industry professionals to produce a captivating short film that showcases their team’s expertise and creativity. With hands-on experience in each facet of the animation production process, students are well-equipped to meet the demands of the dynamic animation industry.
Our Animation Production graduates are prepared for careers as 2D and 3D animators, riggers, modelers, inbetweeners, storyboarders, directors, producers, pre-production artists, medical animators and modelers, and more.
