Schedule a meeting with a member of our Study Abroad advising team to chat one-on-one about all things study abroad! Our peer ambassadors can talk about types of programs, where to go, when to go, how to apply, and about scholarships. They have all studied abroad themselves, are familiar with Ball State’s programs, and have been trained to assist you in exploring your different options. They will meet with you in a peer-to-peer environment to help get you started.

Required Pre-decision Meetings

If your study abroad program has a "required pre-decision meeting" with a Study Abroad Advisor (Annika Vinje or other), please use the specific link provided in your application.

If you have specific questions, please feel free to email us at studyabroad@bsu.edu. 

Once you’ve already been accepted to a program, we are here to help you through course equivalencies, visa considerations, nominations, and more. The tasks depend on the program you’ve chosen. Book an appointment with your Study Abroad Advisor using the direct booking link below. This appointment cannot count for your application's required advising meeting.

Join us for our Study Abroad 101 presentations! We’ll overview program types, things to consider when choosing a program, and how to apply. Led by our peer advisors, these presentations are an excellent way for students to begin their journey to study abroad.

National Student Exchange 101

Want to study away from Ball State but without leaving the country? NSE provides accessible collegiate study-away semester or year-long opportunities to undergraduate students at dozens of member colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Come by the Study Abroad office (SC102) in the Rinker Center or sign up for an information session to learn more!

Region Highlights

Explore study abroad opportunities across Asia, Africa/Middle East, Europe, Latin America, and the UK/Ireland, and discover what makes each region unique.

Offered once a year, our Study Abroad Fair gathers our faculty leaders, other on-campus partners, and our third-party providers in one place for students to interact with and ask questions. Tables are set up, and professors and providers leading programs in the upcoming terms explain their programs to you so you have firsthand information on the destinations, courses, and study opportunities available! 

Our Study Abroad Fair was held on November 17th, 2025 at 4-6pm in the Student Center Ballroom (SC201), coinciding with International Education Week. We hope to see you at next year's event!

Faculty - invite a Study Abroad Peer Ambassador into your classroom! These visits can be at the beginning, the end, or in the middle of one of your classes. There are three different options for classroom visits depending on the amount of content and length desired.

5-Minute Drop-in

The peer ambassador will give a quick preview of study abroad program types, hand out flyers, and invite students to attend informational sessions, the study abroad fair, or to schedule a meeting with us for one-on-one study abroad advising.

10-Minute BSU-in Pitch

BSU-in is our full-semester signature study abroad experience that brings Ball State courses, faculty, and classmates to a new country. The program is designed to be affordable, accessible, and advantageous for all majors. The BSU-in program is hosted in a variety of international locations, and our peer ambassador will highlight our upcoming offerings. This service is only available shortly before or during an active application period for a BSU-in program (November-March, May-September).

20-Minute Overview Presentation

If you would like a broader presentation on the study abroad application process, program types, scholarships, things to consider, and a couple of our favorite programs, then book a longer visit from one of our trained peer ambassadors who have studied abroad themselves. After the presentation, they will also be available to answer questions from yourself and students.
