The EPA-P3 project was envisioned as a teaching module that could support efforts to change peoples’ perception of the relationships of built environments, people, prosperity and the planet.   As such, it was designed as an educational-research-demonstration module for accelerating Ball State’s leadership in education for sustainability, and for taking BSU sustainability leadership to the next level.

The EPA-P3 straw-bale demonstration project was also designed as the first education-research-demonstration project of the LDI LandLab green technology demonstration site.  The LDI LandLab is intended to function as the Midwest regional lab of the growing global network of regional LandLabs, as a resource balance site management system for sustainability education, and as an eco-balance designTM laboratory.
