Potential Student Project(s): I am currently working on these projects:
- Health profession students' perceptions of poverty; Does participation in a poverty simulation improve perceptions?
- Examining factors that influence student engagement in active learning; How do students engage in active learning and what influences their active learning experience?
- Examining levels of cultural competence in health professions students, as well as factors that influence their cultural competence.
- You many work with our team to help collect or analyze data on any of these projects, as well as write up the results for dissemination. I am also open to new project ideas, within my area of interest/expertise.
Attributes/skills/background sought in undergraduate: I am looking for students who are:
- interested in the research process
- motivated
- eager to learn
- organized
- independent, but also work well with others
Mentoring Plan: You will be required to spend at least 5 hrs per week on the project, including a one hour meeting with me/the team each week. You will be required to complete CITI certification and will work with me/a team on an active research project. If you have interest in a new project within my area of expertise, I would be open to exploring that, as well.
