Ball State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present the witty and suspenseful play Holmes Is Where the Heart Is at the University’s Art and Journalism Building, Room 225, at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 1–4, and 6–8; and at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 3.

The play was written by David Taylor Little, associate teaching professor of theatre directing, and Veronica Santoyo, associate teaching professor of theatre, directs the University’s production of it.
“This play uses one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous stories about Sherlock Holmes to explore the importance of family and legacy,” Professor Little said.
Set in postwar London, the story follows a sharp-witted private investigator haunted by voices from her favorite Sherlock Holmes radio broadcasts. These voices may hold clues to solving a high-stakes mystery—or could lead her astray. Alongside her sister, she navigates a world that doubts women detectives, blending intellect, instinct, and imagination in a thrilling homage to classic detective stories.
“This production represents a unique, reimagined take on Sherlock Holmes-inspired storytelling that emphasizes suspense, wit, and a feminist perspective,” Ms. Santoyo said. “I encourage everyone to get their tickets soon to experience this fresh, intriguing twist on the detective genre.”
