More than 30 performers will be featured at Ball State University's 61st Annual Chamber Music Festival. The performances — free and open to the public — begin at 7:30 p.m. May 20, 24, 31 and June 3 in Sursa Performance Hall.
Sponsored by Ball State's School of Music, the festival will celebrate traditional chamber music while showcasing the eclectic musical talents of students, faculty and community members.
"We've got some of the most talented performers in the nation, and these concerts are a great way for the community to see pieces that are rarely performed," said Meryl Mantione, School of Music director. "That's the advantage of living in a town with a university that has a high-caliber music school."
Participating artists will include Leonard Atherton, continuo; Julie Lyn Barber, soprano; Barbara Briner-Jones, piano; Cynthia Carr, French horn; Timothy Clinch, oboe and English horn; Elizabeth Crawford, clarinet; Fred Ehnes, French horn; James Helton, piano; Carol Jenkins, violin; Barbara Kavanaugh, cello; Ray Kilburn, piano; Mary Kothman, violin; Joseph Levitt, tenor; Adrian Mann, double bass; Erwin Mueller, timpani; Derek Reeves, viola; Paul Reilly, guitar; Lori Rhoden, piano; Suzanne Rice, French horn, Elizabeth Richter, harp; Fritz Robertson, tenor; Yoko Shimazaki-Kilburn, soprano; Audra Sokol, dancer; Keith Sweger, bassoon; Patricia Sweger, piano; Anna Vanesyan, piano; George Wolfe, alto saxophone; Karri York, soprano; Mei Zhong, soprano; and the DaCamera Brass Quintet featuring Paul Everett and Larry McWilliams, trumpet; John Seidel, trombone; Mark Mordue, tuba; and Suzanne Rice.
