Presenter: Linda Hanson

Description: Hanson will explore how vote centers can expand voter access and efficiency, touching on the path to approval in Delaware County. Her talk will highlight the League’s ongoing efforts to promote informed citizen participation and increased voter turnout.

Presenter Bio:  Linda Hanson spent most of her career in the Department of English at Ball State, retiring in 2011. Her M.A. and PhD., both in English, are from the University of Pennsylvania. As a professor of English, she was Site Director of the Indiana Writing Project and Director of the Indiana Network of the National Writing Project. In that capacity she worked with the Indiana Department of Education on numerous grants and had her introduction to labyrinthine legislative processes at both the state and federal levels.

She has been with the League since 1993, most actively since retirement. She began as an observer of the Muncie Community School Board and worked on educational and environmental issues for the League of Women Voters of Muncie Delaware County. By 2015 she was deeply involved in redistricting reform—the issue that began her involvement at the state level. Linda is the Spokesperson for the League of Women Voters of Muncie Delaware County and President of the League of Women Voters of Indiana.
