This masterclass will focus on essential orchestral excerpts for string students.
Sharif Ibrahim joined the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s bass section in 2022. An Indiana native, he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in double bass performance at Indiana University. He studied at Carmel High School with ISO bassist Robert Goodlett through the Quattro String Academy and performed with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra under Betty Perry. Ibrahim previously served as Acting Section Bass with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (2017–2019) and has appeared as a substitute with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, Bloomington Bach Cantata Society, and the Aspen Music Festival. He performs on an Italian double bass crafted in 1897 by Custode Marcucci.
