Admission to Undergraduate Programs
Interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in architecture, landscape architecture or urban planning and development at Ball State University? The following information and related links will help you apply for admission to these programs.

The First-Year Program
All entry-level undergraduate students in the College of Architecture and Planning are admitted to a common course of study for their first year. Required courses in this program provide a foundation of theories and skills pertinent to all three disciplines in the college--architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning--as well as discipline-specific issues. At the end of the first year, students may apply to one of the three major programs in the college for their subsequent years of study.

Admission to CAP's First-Year Program is highly competitive, with an enrollment target of approximately 160 students.

CAP admits students to the First-Year Program in three different tracks: fall entry, spring entry, and accelerated entry. Learn more about these entry tracks and your freshman year at CAP.

Application Process
Admission to CAP's First-Year Program is a two-stage process that requires the submission of:

  1. the Ball State University Undergraduate Application for Admission, and
  2. the College of Architecture and Planning First Year Program Application.

Students must be admitted to Ball State before they will be considered for admission to CAP. Please note that admission to Ball State does not necessarily guarantee admission to the college. Please review CAP's admission selection criteria.

The university application must be completed online or sent directly to the university's Office of Admissions.  If you complete the university application online, be sure to select "Architecture First Year Program" as one of your intended majors on the electronic form.  The supplemental College of Architecture and Planning First Year Program Application may be submitted online with the University application..  Supplemental materials, including the undergraduate applicant portfolios, must be mailed directly to the College of Architecture and Planning.

NOTE: International students and transfer students must follow different application procedures.
