
Art in Bloom is an annual springtime event and exhibition celebrating the David Owsley Museum of Art through innovative floral creations inspired by works in the galleries.
Join us for tours, activities, music, demonstrations, and more. All of the weekend festivities are open to the public with no admission fee, and parking at non-metered spots on Campus Drive on the Old Quad is free on weekends.
(Registration is required only for the Paper Flower Workshops due to limited space and supplies.)
The following presentations and activities are scheduled, with times subject to slight changes:
FRIDAY, May 16:
- Preview Party from 5pm - 7pm featuring jazz with the Mark Buselli Trio, a cash bar, hors d'oeuvres, and the first look at the flower arrangements
- (Please note: the museum will be closed 9am - 5pm for event set-up)
SATURDAY, May 17:
- Extended museum hours: 1pm - 5pm
- A demonstration of how to create wearable floral art with Roberta Staggs: 1:15pm in the Contemporary Craft Gallery
- Workshops - make a paper flower with Jeanne Zeigler: 1:15pm (REGISTER HERE) and 3:15pm (REGISTER HERE)
- Guided tours of the flowers: 2pm and 3:30pm
- Live music in the Sculpture Court with Jim Rhinehart at 2:30pm and Becky Burkart at 4pm
- Paper flower-making crafts and coloring pages for all ages: 1pm to 5pm
