left Choosing A Password right

Valid passwords:

  • must be 8 characters or longer
  • are case-sensitive
  • may not be "password" or your username

Do not use your name, birthday, title, phone number or anything else that could easily be associated with you. Do not use easily guessed passwords such as "password". Try not to use a one-word password that can be found in a dictionary. Don't use "keyboard runs" such as "qwerty" or "asdfghjkl".

Good passwords are one or more words (without spaces or puncuation) that contain misspellings and/or numbers.

The best passwords are those that are difficult to remember even if someone sees it written down. To make such a password memorable, try using the first letter of each word in a favorite phrase, song lyric, etc. A couple of examples follow:

"Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water" becomes "jajwuthtfapow".

"Four score and seven years ago" might become "4sa7ya".
