"On the Move: Ball State Dance Theatre on Tour" debuts on the University Theatre stage on April 24 following local tour.
Audiences of all ages will enjoy a lavish combination of dance, discussions, and demonstrations when they see "On the Move: Ball State Dance Theatre on Tour" during the final performance of the academic year for Ball State University theater and dance students. The production will visit area schools and venues this month before concluding with four public performances April 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. on the University Theatre stage.
The students have been rehearsing since the beginning of the semester, in addition to touring with the show. A majority of the choreographed dances included in the April 24-27 performances will be the same as those performed during the tour. However, new dances will also be unveiled on the University Theatre stage, according to Audra Sokol, "On the Move" director and assistant professor of dance.
Five dance faculty members — Sokol, Susan Koper, Christie Zimmerman, Michael Worcel and Vladimir Stadnik — have choreographed this year's annual show.
"Each choreographer has different tastes in music so one can expect to hear a variation of music with the performances — from classical to original compositions," Sokol said.
Tickets for the performance cost $13 for the general public, $12 for faculty and staff, $10 for senior citizens and $7 for students. They are available from the University Theatre Box Office, open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact the box office at 765-285-8749 or visit www.bsu.edu/theatre for more information.
