Editors Joe Hight and Yvette Walker of the award-winning The Oklahoman and NewsOK.com will present "Tomorrow's Newspaper Today: How NewsOK.com Blazes a Multi-Media Trail," Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the Pittenger Student Center Ballroom.
Hight, director of information and development, has been a reporter and managing editor or director for more than 30 years. He leads the newspaper's information-based programs, training and ethics/standards teams, internship program and other areas involving online development.
Hight was a key leader in the effort that won The Oklahoman the 2009 APME Innovator of the Year Award, presented by the Associated Press Managing Editors for its total approach to multimedia journalism. He also served for two terms as president of the Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma.
Walker, director of presentation and custom publishing, is responsible for the overall look and feel of The Oklahoman. She headed up the newspaper's most recent redesign to a 44-inch web. She was a key member of the staff that elevated NewsOK.com to become one of the best online newspapers in the country.
The lecture is part of the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series. The series was established in 2008 with a gift from David Letterman.
