More than 160 potential employers and recruiting organizations are expected at the Fall Career Fair 2007 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 at Worthen Arena.
Ball State Career Center officials said this is the highest number of organizations at the fair for the past several years. Last year, for example, about 140 organizations were present.
The reason for the increase is unclear; however, it might be related to how the event was marketed to potential employers, said Karen Runyon, a temporary recruiting coordinator for the Career Center.
Some of the larger corporations expected to attend include Eli Lilly, AT&T, Dell, IBM, Ernst & Young, and Hershey's. In addition, there will be local, regional and national companies interested in students who have degrees in accounting, finance, sales, marketing, communication, public relations, advertising, design and more.
"However, it is important to note that we work with many employers who would hire students with any major," Runyon said.
In addition, the career fair will include representatives of independent companies, social services agencies, government organizations and graduate schools.
The fair is open to current students and Ball State alumni. Registration is not required.
Job seekers are urged to dress professionally, to bring their student identification and a supply of resumes. More information is available at www.bsu.edu/students/careers/students/events/cid/.
