Minimum Computer Requirements

Windows Computer

  • 3.0GHz+ 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) dual core processor
  • 3GB RAM (system memory) (4GB+ preferred)
  • Windows Vista or higher

Macintosh Computer

  • iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air
  • 3GB RAM (System Memory) (4GB+ preferred)
  • System OS 10.6 or higher

Hardware/Software/Computer Accessories

Required Internet Connection Hardware

  • Wired - Network Ethernet card, 10 BASE-T or 10/100 BASE-T and Ethernet cable (Optional – 5-port switch and extra Ethernet cable, if you and your roommate wish to use the wired connection at the same time)
  • Wireless - 802.11g or 802.11n wireless card (Wireless cards are installed on most notebook computers at purchase.) Devices must be able to connect to wireless using WPA or WPA2-Enterprise "security type" setting. For more information on the wireless available and how to connect to it on campus, click the wireless link. (Note: Most mobile gaming devices, Blu-ray players, and gaming consoles are unable to connect to the wireless because of the security type settings requirement. IMPORTANT: Wired and wireless routers are not permitted for use on the Ball State network. Routers will be turned off when detected as routers negatively affect other users in your building. Learn more about the no router policy by watching our video.
