We’ll take a look at print resources like books and playscripts and also explore online databases like Digital Theatre+ and International Bibliography of Theatre and Dance. Develop search strategies and learn to evaluate sources in this informative workshop!

Richard Harris will look at advertising from a historical perspective and explore what it means to our society. Santa pushing smoking, how sex sells, and how today’s “influencers” make millions of dollars selling. One study says we may see 5,000 ads a day. Harris will provide perspectives and make us think about advertising in our lives.

Emily Hamilton PhotoDr. Emily Hamilton will discuss the importance of cities in economic growth. Many exchanges and innovations are specific to the time and place where they happen, and cities provide the location where a huge share of economic activity takes place. She'll also cover the link between local zoning rules and other policies that constrain the supply of new housing. These rules are not only causing housing affordability problems, but they’re also preventing many people from living in the places where their best economic opportunities are located. Finally, Hamilton will discuss recent reforms to zoning, including some that have been proven to deliver large increases in new housing.

The CSH Success Hub, in partnership with Ball State Living-Learning Communities, is hosting Star Party, an activities fair for humanities and social science majors and minors, on Tuesday, September 10, from 5-7 p.m. in the Studebaker West Complex. More than 40 student organizations, immersive learning programs, projects, and study abroad trips will be present to help students find activities and get involved on our beautiful campus.
