June 15, 2018 4 p.m.
To kick off the yearlong commemoration of Ball State University’s 100th anniversary, you are invited to our Centennial Birthday Celebration.
On June 15, the University will close at 2 p.m. so that faculty, staff, and students can join us on the Quad for:
- free commemorative Centennial T-shirts
- free cake and ice cream
- lots of fun, games, and prizes, including a cupcake decorating contest, yard games, family reunion style competitive games (three-legged race, balloon toss, egg/spoon relay, and can jam), and Ball State trivia game
You are invited to be a part of the Ball State 100 commemorative photograph at 3 p.m., dress casually (including shorts) for work on June 15 for a $1 donation to the United Way, and bring an item for the Centennial Time Capsule. Collection containers will be located near the tent for the UW donations and time capsule items.
The date of this event was chosen to recognize June 17, 1918—the day Ball State first accepted student registrations.
Sign-up opens June 8. Watch for additional information.
About the Centennial
As we celebrate our Centennial, we remember how our campus has grown and how our University has served Muncie and the state of Indiana. Our Centennial theme, “Beneficence: Proud Past and Bright Future,” honors the accomplishments of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni. It also recognizes the enduring values our University is committed to—excellence, integrity, social responsibility, respect, and gratitude—as symbolized by our iconic Beneficence statue. Faculty and staff may consult our frequently asked questions (PDF) about how to handle Kronos timekeeping for the day on the Payroll and Employee Benefits website.
