The Delaware County Historical Society will be celebrating Women’s History Month on the Ball State University campus on Wednesday, March 23 with a “Blog-a-thon” during Women’s Week. And there will be prizes just for participating!
Drop by the computer lab in the GIS Research and Map Collection on the second floor of Bracken Library anytime between 2:00 and 5:00 that Wednesday. You’ll select a biography card for a “Notable Woman of Muncie and Delaware County.” Then do a little research using Newspapers.com, Ancestry.com, and the Digital Media Repository to find a good story. Maybe you’ll write a proper obituary (which many of the women in history never received), or get creative and write a personal letter from the woman, or maybe craft an imaginary diary entry.
Entries only need to be one page or less, and anyone—students, faculty, staff, visitors—can participate. Everyone who submits an entry will be included in drawings for gift cards from Starbucks and Target. But more importantly, your writing will be included in the local history project Web page and Instagram. You’ll literally be helping MAKE HISTORY!
