Ball State University’s Office of Immersive Learning is pleased to accept proposals for the financial support of immersive learning projects.
The Provost Immersive Learning Pilot Projects/One-Time Grant program provides financial support for one-time immersive learning projects or pilot projects that have not been funded before. Applications for this grant are submitted by the proposed project’s faculty mentor and must be approved by the applicant’s department chair and college dean.
To review the full guidelines, click here.
In order to be considered immersive learning, a proposed project must meet the following criteria:
-
Community-Engaged: The class works with a community partner (local or national non-profit, business, government agency, school, etc.) with the faculty member acting as mentor, liaison, and guide.
-
Collaborative: Students work collaboratively on teams.
-
Project-Based: Student teams create an outcome or deliverable that addresses a community-identified issue.
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to attend a Provost Immersive Learning Grant forum. Dates and times for these events will be made available through Ball State Communication Center announcements. Additionally, applicants are encouraged to discuss ideas with Immersive Learning project managers, Kara DuQuette (kcduquette@bsu.edu) or Stacey Alexander (sjalexander@bsu.edu).
A complete application includes:
- The application (click “apply” to begin)
- A budget spreadsheet (use the attached template)
- Letter of support or signed MOU from your community partner
- Approval from your chair and dean (you will enter their email addresses and the system will request their formal approval)
If the proposal involves international travel for students, applicants should discuss this with Ashley Coker, Director of Study Abroad, and obtain a letter of support from her to attach to this proposal.
If the proposal involves technical assistance applicants should discuss this with Brandon Smith, Director of Academic Support, and obtain a letter of support from him to attach to this proposal.
The deadline is September 20, 2024.
