Gary Bussell, Vietnam War Veteran, U.S. Army National Guard, will give us a first-hand account of his experiences with the Vietnam War.
Full Excerpt:
“For me, it was 1963. Was that a long time ago? Or was it just yesterday? The ‘Draft”, every male was required to register at the age of 18 or join a military branch. I joined the Indiana National Guard so I could keep my job, get married, and only be gone for two weeks a year plus one weekend a month. Good recruiting poster. Vietnam was a word I had never heard. Most National Guard units at the time had a lack luster reputation. But we found our unit, CoD151 was different. Ours was led by men who had served in WW11, one was a tabbed ranger, and men who served in Korea. They were tough, they were strong, but in 1969 we knew that their toughness saved many lives!”
