The NREM Alumni Society has annually organized a service project to clean up a three-mile stretch of the White River in Hamilton County that the group adopted in 2005. Alumni are invited to join us for this project, followed by refreshments.

This is typically a three-hour trip. Canoes, paddles, and PFDs will be provided courtesy of the White River Canoe Company. All participants are required to wear a PFD while on the water and to sign a waiver of liability.

Canoe launch at Strawtown Koteewi Prairie Park, 12302 East Strawtown Avenue, Noblesville, IN 46060; take out at the White River campground. Please meet at the launch site by 3 p.m. to get cars moved to the take out location and be transported back.

Participants should bring drinking water, sunscreen, gloves, and old shoes or water shoes. Family members are welcome to participate. Children must be 10 years or older, able to swim, and be accompanied by a parent.

We will meet afterward at the White River Campground for snacks and socializing and transportation back to vehicles at Koteewi Prairie Park.

Reserve your spot as early as possible, but no later than August 15, 2019. Canoes will be provided for the first 18 people to register. Others may bring their own kayaks or canoes and are welcome to participate. Please RSVP at

Please make sure to give us a cell number where you can be reached that Thursday morning in case the event needs to be postponed at the last minute because of river conditions.
