Musicologist Drew Edward Davies is associate professor and chair of the department of music studies at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. He is a specialist in 17th- and 18th-century music in Latin America, Iberia, and the wider European context, with complementary research interests in colonialism, contemporary architecture, and a diversity of musical genres and practices. As one of the leading scholars in the study of colonial music in Latin America, he has worked with numerous ensembles to create performances of newly discovered pieces by composers working in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
His lecture is titled Villancicos and Contemporary Performance.
