Now in its 49th year, the Festival of New Music spans three days and is an opportunity for composers and musicians to come together and perform new works. The festival is comprised of five concerts featuring works by composers from across the country. In addition, a guest composer is featured each year and presents workshops for festival attendees.
This year's featured composers/performers are NYC-based duo Popebama. Specializing in works conceived by members Erin Rogers (saxophone) and Dennis Sullivan (percussion), Popebama explores the boundaries of performance, applying text, theater, electronics, improvisation, and high-energy instrumental writing, to communicate with audiences in fresh and imaginative ways.
