Guest Artist Recital: Grace Eunhey Park, cello, and Hongteak Lim, tenor

Both Grace and Hongteak are alumni of the Ball State School of Music. They will perform with pianist Hyorim Choi in a program to include works by J.S. Bach, Richard Strauss, Joseph Haydn, Giacomo Puccini, Thomas Aquinas, and Shin Sangwoo.

Grace Eunhey Park began her cello studies in Korea where she earned a master’s degree in cello performance at Yeungnam University. While there she played for the Daegu Opera Festival Orchestra, now known as Daegu International Opera Orchestra. She came to the United States to study towards an Artist Diploma with Peter Opie at Ball State University. A highlight in Grace's career includes her performance with the Orchestre de la Francophonie in Montreal, Canada. She began her professional career in the cello section of Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Civic Orchestra. Ms. Park is a founding member of the international ensemble Secreta. She is also now the associate principal cellist of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, and works as a freelance cellist, regularly performing with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Marion Philharmonic, and Anderson Symphony Orchestra.

International lyric tenor Hongteak Lim has firmly established himself as a young professional in the world of opera and classical music. Hongteak has performed seven principle roles in operas such as Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, L’amico Fritz, La Bohème, Tosca, Fidelio, and L’elisir d’amore. In the summer of 2012, he was invited to be an Artist-in-Residence at the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, one of only six from a field of national competitors. Hongteak has also performed the tenor solos in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Haydn’s Creation, and Handel’s Messiah. Hongteak received his Doctor of Arts in vocal music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He has studied with many world-class voice teachers including Carol Vaness, Jane Eaglan. Patricia Stiles, and Andreas Poulimenos, all at the Jacobs School of Music, in addition to Joseph Levitt at Ball State University.  Originally from South Korea, Hongteak now lives in Muncie with his wife and son.
