This lecture is in conjunction with the exhibition “Placeless Space” at The Ned and Gloria Griner Art Gallery featuring Camden Hardy, Allen Morris, and Leah Schretenthaler. Hardy is a visual artist whose artistic practice is driven by questions about the dissonance that occurs when we encounter information that contradicts our expectations, as well as our own agency in the construction of our individual realities. Morris is a South Dakota-based photographic artist whose research uses a variety of light sensitive materials along with contemporary and historical photographic processes and techniques to examine the relationship between humans and their environments. Schretenthaler was born and raised in Hawai'i and uses traditional photography, video, and metal casting to create artwork that examines the relationship between the human built and naturally occurring landscape.
