This event is sponsored by the College of Sciences and Humanities and the Humanities LLC, and will take place in the Studebaker East Multipurpose Room.

What can you do with a major in the humanities? The popular "Stars to Steer By" career series makes those options after college visible.

But what can you do while you're still in school? The "Star Party" will show you all the opportunities available in the departments of English, Philosophy & Religious Studies, History, and Modern Languages & Classics.

This event is for everyone--those who are undecided, switching majors, or just getting started in their humanities major--because we want to help you find your "true north," your purpose and passion.

Come if you want to learn more about:

  • editing and publishing
  • book arts
  • study abroad
  • academic and literary journals
  • public history
  • spoken-word poetry
  • tutoring jobs
  • strategic communications
  • community activism
  • teaching
  • language immersion
  • service learning
  • and more!

Featured Speaker

Our keynote speaker is Jennifer Banning Gose, who earned a BA in History and an MA in English, both at Ball State. Today, she's the Director of Career Education at the Center for Career and Community Engagement at Earlham College.

More about Jennifer Banning Gose:

  • Jennifer's mission as the Director of Career Education at Earlham is to develop large-scale, long-term strategies for connecting Earlham students and alumni to meaningful career discernment, experiential learning, professional resources, and networking opportunities.
  • Most importantly, she helps tell the story of how a liberal arts education can change the world.
  • Jennifer will speak for about 10 minutes to kick off the evening, and then will be sitting at a table to talk with students in small groups.
