Artist and activist Mahogany Browne presents her unique brand of performance poetry, which "bridges the gap between lyrical poets and literary emcee." Browne is a co-organizer of Black Poets Speak Out, and her books include Dear Twitter and Redbone (nominated for an NAACP Outstanding Literary Works award).
This event is a part of the Department of English's Marilyn K. Cory Speaker Series. The 2017-2018 series focuses on Literature and Social Justice. Co-sponsors for the event include the African American Studies Department, the Sociology Department, the Office of Institutional Diversity, and the Multicultural Center.
