Session Description: Assessing Nursing Student Engagement in Clinical and Simulation Experiences: Karrie will present her research findings related to differences in student engagement in clinical and simulation experiences. The research findings inform teaching strategies that can be used to improve student engagement in these types of learning experiences.
Featured Speaker: Dr. Karrie Osborne
About Karrie Osborne: She is the Director of Clinical Simulation for the College of Health. In this role, she works with faculty in the College of Health to develop and implement experiential learning activities. Prior to this, Karrie maintained a full-time faculty position and currently continues to teach in the School of Nursing. She has practice experience as a registered nurse in the intensive care units at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Karrie recently completed her PhD in nursing at Loyola University in Chicago where she focused her research on student engagement in clinical learning experiences. She is passionate about exploring ways to better educate nursing students in the academic setting so that they are better prepared for practice.
