Travis Abels, a creative advertising professional, artist, editor and storyteller, who splits his time between Portland, Oregon; Los Angeles; and New York City, will speak at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Pittenger Student Center Ballroom.
Some of Abels' work includes the trailers for “A Star Is Born,” “La La Land,” “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “I Tonya” and “Westworld”; transforming a piano into a puppet; and a community engagement project that involves building 7-foot-tall ear and mouth sculptures that connect across a city’s invisible boundary lines.
Department of Journalism's 50th Anniversary Celebration
A Department of Journalism alumnus, Abels graduated in 2006 from Ball State with majors in advertising and art and was active in the Ball State chapter of the American Advertising Federation, whose members are organizing his visit to Ball State.
