Are you curious about the history of a house, but have no idea where to begin? Learn the basic steps for researching the history a house and the people who lived-in or owned it. Using local resources, Rebecca Torsell, Archivist for Architectural Records, Ball State University, will show you how to use maps, drawings, and land records to discover the timeline and ownership of a property. Sara McKinley, Carnegie Branch Library, Muncie Public Library, will then show you how to learn about the people who owned, worked, or lived at the property. Participants will learn research methods for discovering the date of construction, ownership, occupancy, and more.
Speakers: Rebecca Torsell, Archivist for Architectural Records, Ball State University and Sara McKinley, Carnegie Branch Library, Muncie Public Library.
