Perform for agents, casting directors, and other industry professionals working in theatre, film, and television in the New York area and make the connections you need to start a successful career.
Through an audition process, seniors completing a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in acting, dance, and musical theatre are selected for the New York Showcase by Rachel Hoffman, casting director at Telsey + Company.
Hoffman meets with students on campus at least twice a year and auditions the senior BFA students in the fall for the showcase during Ball State’s spring break in March.
Through the work of Hoffman, faculty, and committed alumni, a number of industry professionals attend the showcases. The New York Showcase has resulted in our students getting agency representation with some of the top firms in New York in addition to being cast in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, major regional theatres, and film and television.
In addition to the showcase, the Department of Theatre and Dance arranges for a workshop for our students who are participating in the showcase (and underclassmen who are helping produce the showcase). Past workshop leaders have included Christine Baranski, Sutton Foster, Walter Bobbie, John Cariani, Lindsey Crouse, Danny Burstein, among others.
