Michael Daehn is an associate professor of ThMFA Directing University of Oklahomaeatre Education and Directing who just finished his eighth year at Ball State University. Mr. Daehn is coordinator of the theatre education program and teaches a variety of courses in that area as well as directing, acting and introduction to theatre classes. He has directed over 130 shows on the high school, college, community theatre and professional levels. Recent Ball State productions include Little Shop of Horrors, The Importance of Being Earnest, Urinetown the Musical, Reasons to be Pretty and God’s Ear. He is also co-founder and directs the Ball State Prism Project which provides area youth challenged by special needs (i.e. autism) with a musical performance opportunity. Other directing credits include recent local productions of Chicago for Muncie Civic Theatre and Seussical the Musical at Burris Laboratory School. Professional credits include an award winning original off-off Broadway production of The Landlord (Toy Box Theatre) and three consecutive years directing a new play in the National Playworks competition. In Facebook Wii Trust (2010) and Clipped (2011) were subsequently published by Samuel French.

Daehn is also one of two Midwest representatives on the national Working Policy Group, an arts advocacy lobbying wing of the EDTA. He is a regular contributor to Dramatics and Teaching Theatre magazines. Daehn is a longtime member of the Indiana Thespians executive advisory board, has directed the All State show twice and serves as one of the State Play Contest judges each year. He also serves on the American High School Theatre Festival Team of Evaluators (which takes place annually in Edinburgh, annually). Before coming to Ball State, he created the nationally ranked Renaissance School for the Arts in Appleton, Wisconsin. Married to his remarkable costume designer wife Patty, they have a mixed family of four lovely daughters and a lap cat.
