Associate Professor of Telecommunications
Miao Guo (Ph.D., University of Florida) is an Associate Professor of Telecommunications at Ball State University. Her research interests include audience behavior analysis, data analytics, and emerging media technologies.
She has published articles in the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, International Journal on Media Management, Journal of Media Business Studies, Media and Communication, and others. Her teaching interests include audience analytics, communication research, digital media marketing and promotion, media management and economics, and telecommunications programming at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Dr. Guo’s research has been funded by companies like Time Warner and professional academic associations. She is the recipient of the 2016 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) New Faculty Research Award and the 2013 Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Emerging Scholar Award.
Dr. Guo is a Faculty Fellow of the National Association of Television Program Executives, the International Radio and Television Society, and AEJMC’s Institute for Diverse Leadership. She is a social media visiting professor of the Scripps Howard Foundation and the ANA Educational Foundation. She has held leadership positions in the College of Communication, Information and Media as well as professional associations like BEA and AEJMC.
