The Department of Sociology welcomes the involvement of those who support our missions.
We appreciate support of these initiatives by alumni and friends, whether contributions take the form of time and expertise, opportunities for student practice in the field through immersive learning partnerships, or financial donations.
Online Giving
Donors support the work of the Department of Sociology in multiple ways – from making donations to the Gordon and Johnson/Tamney Scholarships for undergraduate students, to underwriting student travel to conferences, to general purpose funding and the support of immersive learning opportunities. We gratefully welcome support of our ongoing initiatives.

Alumni Involvement
We are fortunate to have alumni who give of their time and expertise. The examples they set and the mentorship they provide help our students understand the variety of career paths that are open to sociology students.
Our alumni:

- own their own companies
- collect and analyze data for large organizations
- educate and counsel others
- pursue careers in public relations, social services, human resources, management, sales, government, and more
If you would like to share your experience and expertise in these and other fields, we would welcome your involvement as a:
- one-on-mentor to students
- speaker at a departmental event
- member of our Alumni Advisory Board
For more information on opportunities to become involved, please contact Dr. Melinda Messineo.
