The following costs are for Ball State students working on bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, undergraduate certificates, or taking 100- to 400-level courses via online. This also applies to students taking Ball State courses in the Greater Indianapolis area. This information is meant to help you estimate your education expenses.
Types of Costs
As a Ball State Online student, your total cost per semester includes:
- general, per-credit course costs (includes a $25 per-credit course fee for online courses)
- technology fee
- program or course fee (applicable for some, but not all, courses or programs)
Note
If you take one or more courses on Ball State’s main campus in Muncie, Indiana, during a semester or term, you are required to pay the main campus rate, which includes additional fees for student services, health, and recreation.

If you use a credit or debit card, you will be charged an extra 2.75 percent of the amount that you are paying. This is the fee passed on from the credit card companies to Ball State for processing. If you do not wish to be charged this fee, you might want to consider
other payment methods.
If you take any courses on our main campus in Muncie, Indiana, during a semester, you will pay tuition and fees for main-campus undergraduate students.
This does not impact most of our online and distance students. However, a few students in blended programs take all online courses one semester but may choose to take a few on campus. Any semester where you take on-campus courses, you will be charged additional fees.
