Assistant Professor of Music Education
Ann Harrington was most recently an instructor of music education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe where she taught elementary music methods courses for music majors and for elementary education majors. Dr. Harrington is certified in Orff Schulwerk and has completed professional development trainings in Kodaly and Dalcroze methods. Pedagogically, she specializes in incorporating improvisation, composition, and the use of classroom instruments in elementary and middle school general music.
Prior to her appointment at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, she served as a general music teacher for elementary and middle school students in Mississippi and Louisiana. She has also served as an invited lecturer and guest instructor for undergraduate music students and in-service elementary music teachers. Dr. Harrington has also presented original research at state, national, and international music education conferences. Her research interests include: adult and community music, music perception and cognition, and music teacher preparation.
