Professor Ferrer graduated from University of La Habana, Cuba, with a major in Latin American Literature. Later on he completed a Master’s in Spanish at Florida International University (FIU) and a Ph.D. in Spanish at University of Miami (UM), with a specialization in 19th Century Hispanic-American Literature. His main area of research is 19th Century Cuban narrative. 

He’s been working at Ball State University since 2006, and for the last ten years he’s been teaching first year Spanish.
