Rita Faulkner

Instructor of French

Room:NQ 165

Department: Modern Languages and Classics

I’m interested in language and culture. As a result, I have studied several languages--French, German, Spanish, and Arabic--and traveled and studied in countries where those languages are spoken (among other countries). I have worked in Belgium, Kuwait, and Bahrain. I have earned the following degrees: a B.A. in French, an M.A in Applied Linguistics (teaching languages), and a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature with emphasis on literatures in French, Arabic, and English. Most recently, I taught French for four years at Eastern Illinois University, English as a Second Language for eleven years at Ball State, and before that, French at BSU. I am excited to introduce students to the beautiful system that is the French language and to cultural phenomena such as the beautiful game of soccer/football beloved by so many French-speaking people.
