Spanish Professor Adam Ballart is interested in the use of technology and authentic resources for teaching and learning a foreign language. Since 2014, Professor Ballart has participated in and facilitated faculty development for the Interactive Learning Space Initiative (now Active Learning Academy) and was in a lead faculty role for the Creative Pedagogy Project. In 2016, Professor Ballart was presented the Excellence in Teaching Award by the Office of Educational Excellence (now the Division of Online and Strategic Learning). In addition to his interest in technology, he has also concentrated his efforts to promote learning Spanish for specific purposes (i.e. Medical Spanish). As a nationally certified medical interpreter and licensed trainer, he currently is developing an online micro-credential program for Spanish in the healthcare setting and has taught several Medical Spanish and cultural competency courses for aspiring and working healthcare professionals.
