Dr. Imon began his academic career as a Lecturer at the Department of Statistics, University of Rajshahi on July 1, 1992. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1995, to Associate Professor in 2000, and Full Professor in 2004. He joined the Department of Mathematical Science at Ball State University as an Associate Professor of Statistics in 2008 and was promoted to a Full Professor in 2012.

Dr. Imon has been able to establish himself as an expert in Regression Diagnostics, and Robust Regression and Outlier Detection. His other areas of interests are Multivariate Analysis, Statistical Inference, Sample Reuse Methods, Econometrics, Time Series Analysis, Statistical Computing and Graphics, Data Mining, Business Statistics, Environmental Statistics. Dr. Imon has published 135 research articles, book chapters in refereed journals, books and proceedings of international conferences so far. In 2011, was awarded Gopal Kanji Journal of Applied Statistics Prize by Taylor and Francis for his outstanding research activities. He has supervised 13 PhD, 4 M. Phil. and 30 M.Sc. research students. He has given more than 100 invited presentations in different institutions. Dr. Imon has served different academic institutions in different countries including Indian Statistical Institute Calcutta, Ball State University, American University in Cairo, Seoul National University, University Putra Malaysia, University of Malaya, and University Sains Malaysia. Dr. Imon holds position in a number of professional societies. He has been serving the International Statistical Institute as an elected member since 2005.
