With the approval of the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services,
students may choose to pursue a minor in counseling. The minor fulfills
partial elective courses for the Sport and Exercise Psychology program.
To pursue the counseling minor, you must have completed 15 semester
hours or 24 quarter hours of undergraduate psychology with a GPA of 3.0
in those courses.
Students must also pass an ethics exam given in CPSY 606 and receive a grade of B or better in CPSY 606 and CPSY 644.
Course required for the counseling minor include ONE of the following THREE Introductory courses:
CPSY 600 - Introduction to School Counseling
CPSY 603 - Introduction to Rehabilitation Counseling
CPSY 605 - Introduction to Clinical Mental Health Counseling
and the following:
CPSY 606 - Pre-Practicum Interviewing Skills
CPSY 621 - Theories and Techniques of Counseling
CPSY 644 - Practicum in Counseling
CPSY 688 - Process and Techniques of Group Counseling
