Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management
Melody Alexander is a professor in the Department of Information Systems and Operation Management in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University. She received her doctorate in business education from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She taught at state universities in New York and private business schools in Connecticut. Her teaching responsibilities include business communications and computer applications. Alexander received several Dean’s Teaching Awards. She works with students through Freshmen Connections and designs online learning experiences.
Alexander has over 90 published refereed articles and proceedings, and has presented her research at both national and international conferences. She received the Outstanding Paper award in 2003 for research published in the NABTE Review. Her research interests include business communications, ethics, distance learning, computer applications, and computer information systems. She has written articles that have appeared in publications such as The Delta Pi Epsilon Journal, NABTE Review, Journal of Career and Technical Education, Behavior Research Methods, Instruments, and Computers, Journal of Education for Business, Journal of Online Learning, Journal of Technology Studies, Organizational Systems Research Journal, Business Communication Quarterly, Journal for Business Communication, Journal of Computing in Teacher Education, Journal of Business and Training Education, Business Education Forum, Business Education Digest, Journal of Global Business Education, and Issues in Information Systems.
Alexander has served on the editorial board of several refereed journals and has reviewed manuscripts and conference proceedings. She has served as a moderator and session chair at national and international conferences. She was a United States Delegate to Italy, and a Ball State University Delegate to China, Korea, and Japan. She has participated in continuing education study abroad programs in Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, and Brazil.
