All graduate students must be actively registered as Ball State students during their final/graduating term.
If you are not registered for classes during the semester you apply to graduate and have completed all other requirements, you should enroll in MAST 600 Master’s Candidate if you are a master’s or specialist degree candidate, DISS 799 Doctoral Dissertation if you are a doctoral student.
You should speak with the department directly about registration in MAST 600 or DISS 799 if you choose one of these options.
Eligible students must apply to graduate through Self-Service Banner (SSB). Apply again for each additional degree or certificate objective.
Review your graduation applications on Self-Service Banner (SSB) to confirm you have submitted all necessary degree and certificate graduation applications before the deadline.
Dates and Deadlines
Be sure to check important dates and deadlines to ensure you know when forms and fees are due.
A $25 application fee for graduation is required for all students applying for graduation and completion of a certificate program.
If you reapply for graduation or completion, you will be charged a $25 application-processing fee for the new term.
The fee is assessed per degree (e.g. master of arts, master of science) and certificate objective (e.g. certificate in applied behavior analysis, etc.) and per application processed.
The graduation ceremony is only for students completing a degree program. If you are applying for certificate completion only, you will not be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Participants will need to order the necessary materials such as the cap, gown, and tassel. We ask that you get all your materials early in case something needs to be returned or exchanged.
See specifics about what you need for the day of the ceremony.
