Begin Making Connections

One of the biggest pieces of advice we can share is to get connected as soon as possible. Our students who have been the most successful were the most connected.

Now is your chance to start connecting with others, and the best way to do so is through our on-campus orientation, offered at the start of every term. There are opportunities to connect with individuals both within your department and within the Ball State community. Networking with your peers, faculty, and staff can make your experience in graduate school memorable. These connections can also form into lasting relationships, which can be beneficial to your success in future endeavors.

Fall Orientation

Fall 2019 Orientation:

The Fall 2019 on-campus orientation session date and details are currently under development.  Please check back here for updates as the Fall Semester approaches.

Our fall on-campus graduate student orientation is the largest of our sessions because the majority of our students start in the fall. Typically, this orientation is the Thursday before classes start. This event is not mandatory but highly suggested.

As a typical example, here is the agenda from the Fall 2018 session:

Fall 2018 Schedule of Events

4:00 p.m. - Pruis Hall
Welcome Keynote Address by Graduate School Dean Dr. Adam Beach.

5:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Emens Auditorium
"Get-to-know-us" Welcome Reception.  Family members are welcome!

Our spring and summer orientations are held on the Friday before classes start.

The event is usually a 90 minute session focused on:

  • success strategies for graduate school
  • career services resources
  • library resources
  • course registration instructions and questions
  • technology resources
  • wellness center resources

Spring and summer orientation agendas will be provided during the on-site session.
