Our lab has all the equipment you need to practice on to make it in the real world. The best part? It’s the same types of equipment used in the industry.

Eleven desktop computers are loaded with geographic information systems (GIS) software, including ArcGis. We also have a Mac G5, and one of our computers is a WSI TV weather graphics broadcast-quality computer. This Dell computer makes television-quality weather graphics and relays information between the two other WSI computers in the NewsLink Indiana television studio.

Four televisions are used for monitoring local television media coverage during severe weather, and we have a high frequency radio repeater. A projector and projection screen were added for leading discussions and forecasting challenges among your peers.

This lab is the focal point for analyzing real-time meteorological and climatological data for the Storm Chase Team and serves as a backup Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the Delaware County Emergency Management Agency.
