John Fitzgerald, Professor of Finance and Insurance, received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was Associate Dean of the College of Business from 1993-2001 and Chairperson of the Department of Finance from 1989-1993. He has been at Ball State University since 1984. His teaching interests include Principles of Risk Management and Insurance, Life and Health Insurance, Property and Liability Insurance, Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions, Personal Finance, and Insurance Law. Fitzgerald has published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Insurance Regulation, Journal of American Society of CLU & CHFC, Best's Review, The New England Journal of Business and Economics, CPCU Annals, Reading in Consumerism, The Insurance Law Journal, The National Underwriter, and Public Budgeting and Finance. His current research interests are in insurer bad faith, employee benefit plans, insurance regulation, commercial liability insurance, managed health care, and e-risk and demutualization.
