About Kristin Cipollone

Dr. Cipollone has more than 15 years of experience working in schools and communities. Prior to joining the Ball State Faculty, Dr. Cipollone was a public school teacher and worked for numerous not-for-profit community agencies, focusing on issues related to poverty and education. Her research interests include social reproduction and the intersections of race, class, and opportunity structures, as well as the preparation of culturally responsive educators. Dr. Cipollone has published widely with articles in journals such as: Sociology of Education, Urban Education, American Education Research Journal, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, and the British Journal of Sociology of Education. She is also co-author of Class Warfare: Race, Class, and College Admissions in Top-Tier Secondary Schools.

Dr. Cipollone teaches classes in social justice, community engagement, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
