About Peggy Fisher

Dr. Fisher, originally from Solon, OH is a MAC girl at heart. She received her BA, MA and PhD from Bowling Green State University in OH, and ended up here at Ball State University. Along with teaching her regular courses such as Business and Professional Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Interviewing, and occasionally Public Speaking and Organizational Communication in both both face-to-face and online sections, she also runs the department's graduate and undergraduate internship programs. She is actively engaged in Immersive Learning opportunities and her projects have involved topics such as Human Resources, Community Outreach, Compassion Fatigue, Co-Working Spaces, Cancer Awareness, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Training to mention a few. Dr. Fisher is also involved in the Central States Communication Association in a variety of interest groups and as a program planner. Along with teaching and being academically involved in professional organizations, she is an active community member. She has been involved with organizations such as Dream Nest: A Division of Hillcroft Services, Habitat for Humanity, and Feed My Sheep Muncie, Inc. She has been an active volunteer at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital since 1999. She believes that these experiences make her a better teacher, and loves getting students involved as well.

Service/Community Involvement

  • Dream Nest: A Division of Hillcroft Services: 2017-present. Co-Founder, fundraising chair, social media chair, painter. Dream Nest does bedroom remodels for children with special needs in Delaware County, IN.
  • Feed My Sheep Muncie, Inc.: Chairperson, 2012-2016. Volunteer 1999-present. The FMS annual event on Thanksgiving Day serves approximately 1,200 free meals and provides bags of groceries for those in need.
  • IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital: 1999-present. Volunteer in areas such as Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cancer Center, Emergency Department, Cardiac Care, and Transportation.
